2009: Sawyer started all 10 games during leading the team with
77 total tackles. He also ranked second in the conference with
eight pass breakups and was third in the conference with five
interceptions. Sawyer also added one sack, one forced fumble
and one fumble recovery for the season. He ended his career
with 152 tackles and seven interceptions.
2008: Started all 10 games last season and finished second on
the team with 63 total tackles, including 4.0 tackles for a loss
(-14) … also had six pass breakups, two interceptions and
shared a sack (-4) … posted seven or more tackles in seven
contests … had eight tackles in six games … logged eight tackles
and intercepted a pass in a 34-27 loss to Guilford (10/25) …
notched eight tackles and shared a sack in a 32-19 loss at
Bridgewater (11/1).
2007: Played in all nine games as a nickel back and special
teams player during his sophomore season ... totaled 12 tackles,
including 2.0 tackles for a loss (-5) ... also had a pass breakup
and blocked a punt ... posted five tackles in a 28-21 win over
Catholic (10/6).
2006: Played in a majority of the games on special teams as a
first-year player ... did not record a tackle.
