The Polish American Football League (Polska Liga Futbolu Amerykanskiego),
PLFA is the league of American Football in Poland, founded in 2006.

American football unoficially appeared in Poland in the year 1999, when a
pioneer initiative was set in Warsaw. The Polish American Football
Association was created in November of 2004, initiated by two first American
football teams: Warsaw Eagles and 1. KFA Wielkopolska. Its founding, was a
response to the dynamic growth of the American football movement in their
country.
The first game between polish teams (still without professional equipment) was played in December of 2005 in
Poznan. The historic, officiated by professionals, game was played in March of 2006 –The Warsaw Eagles took on
Pardubice Stallions in a game played in the nations capitol. From that moment teams began to develop in different
parts of the country.

The turning point for American football in Poland was November 8th of 2006 when the first season of regular
league competition was inaugurated. Today American Football is one of the most dynamically developing sports
in Poland.

Polish American Football League (PLFA)

The main motor which runs the fast expansion od American football in Poland is by any doubt the PLFA, which
played its first season in autumn of 2006. Four teams took part in this league: 1.KFA Fireballs Wielkopolska,
Pomorze Seahawks, The Crew Wroclaw and the later champion Warsaw Eagles.

Although short, but intense, the first football season was a huge sport, medial, promotional and organizational
success. Close and fascinating games, although played in bad weather, were watched by a large number of
spectators – the match between The Crew and Eagles, in Wroclaw drew a crowd of about 3000 people and the
final in Warsaw between the Seahawks and Eagles was watched closely by 1400 football fans. The PLFA Press
Biuro noted over 100 publications in the press and leading internet portals, tens of spoilers and game coverage in
radio stations and more than a dozen TV appearances.

PLFA 2007

This season five new teams entered the competition: Silesia Miners, Devils Wrocław, Husaria Szczecin, Kozly
Poznan and Cracow Tigers. The season started April 14th 2007 with a game played in Kutno. During the duration
of the season, 30 games were played-among these games were the 3 playoff games which coroneted the

PLFA games are not just exciting sport matches, there are also very well organized events with many additional
attractions: professional commentary, cheerleaders, competitions for spectators, food stands and other. PLFA is
also a growing number of football fans, loudly, emotionally cheering on their favorite teams and a truly family like

After two fascinating semifinal games which brought two surprises - the defeat of both the Polish champion and
vice-champion-Warsaw Eagles and Pomorze Seahawks. In the final match up, the new comer AZS Silsesia
Miners took on The Crew Wroclaw. The team from Wroclaw came out of the confrontation victorious and was
crowned Polish champion of the 2007 season.

friendly matches: Chelm Bowl (July 2006), Otwock Mayors Cup (May 2007 Zubry Minsk-Eagles) and others.

National Team Competitions

Currently most European countries are represented by a national team. Regularly European Championships are
played (held by the European Federation of American Football which the Polish American Football Association is a
member of) as well as the World Championship held by the International Federation of American Football(IFAF, to
which the Polish Association will become a member in a matter od days). Poland stands before a chance of
creating a strong national team. All around the world there are Poles that play American football at the top levels.
Most of them describe, a near chance of playing in red and white colors as a dream come true.

Event Calender-2008 season

Next season, in addition to the spring-autumn Polish American Football League, many international preseason
games and tournaments are planned.

The next big step in the development of American football in our county is the awaited first game of the senior
