Innsbruck wins EURO BOWL XXII against Vienna 28 : 24
(2008-07-06) The Swarco Raiders Tirol win a dramatic final in the Eurobowl XXII with 28:24 (6:14; 8:10; 14:0; 0:0)
against the Raffeisen Vikings and make Tyrolean sports history. They are the first club sport to win a Champions
League Final. Since that victory the Swarco Raiders really feel to be number ONE in Europe.
In front of a record crowd of 5.600 spectators the defending champion from Vienna started strong and took a 24:14
halftime lead. After good adjustments during halftime the Swarco Raiders came back turned the game around. A
great defense shut the Vikings down and QB Marko Glavic and RB Florian Grein scored the game winning
touchdowns.
RB Florian Grein was named game MVP, he scored twice and had cumulative 104 rushing and receiving yards
and had a big impact on the victory.
Swarco Raiders Headcoach Geoff Buffum after the game: “I am incredibly proud of this team. We have worked and
fought long for this final victory. Today is the day, on which we are number one in Europe.”
